On November 30, 2011 Adjutant Bert Abbey, Chaplain Lenny Levine, accompanied by their wives Robert and Sandy made the L’Chaim Fund $100 award presentation to 4 new graduates of the rehab program at the West 43rd Street Veterans Residence. Part of the ceremony was a presentation of an American flag that had, been memorialized and flown over the West 43rd Street Veterans Residence, to Roberta Abbey . Carol Davidson, Program Director of Veterans Services for the Samaritan Village made the presentation. In her words “Roberta was cited for her famous “brownies” and for the aid and support she has given to Adjutant Bert Abbey of Post 717 Jewish War Veterans of the United States in the performance of his contributions to veterans charities and hospitals. Roberta was one of the co-founders of the L’Chaim fund and is a regular contributor.
